D.C. Trip in Pictures

I went to D.C. last month to attend a conference (that I planned with a co-worker).

Before I left, someone was able to throw a guilt trip in...

We flew in Friday night and since our responsibilities were not until Sunday, we had Saturday to be tourists.

Our first stop was the Museum of American History

The above picture is of the first 14 presidents' locks of hair. Kinda cool, kinda creepy.

 George Washington's formal military suit.

A portion of the south Twin Tower

My favorite exhibit was the inaugural gowns of first ladies.  Above is Jackie Kennedy's gorgeous gown.

Michelle Obama's gown.

Dorothy's ruby red slippers from the Wizard of Oz

The famous Farrah bathing suit.
In front of the Lincoln Monument

I could have fit Lincoln in my purse.

 Vietnam Memorial Wall

Without any warning the clouds rolled in and it began to snow heavily.

You can tell how bad the wind was blowing by this picture of Christine, my co-worker.

My favorite: The Korean War Memorial

During the conference VA Secretary Eric Shinseki spoke.

One night I got the above picture text from Ryan, Beau's best friend and Mamie's crush.  It was reassuring to know she was in good hands in my absence.

Wednesday afternoon we toured the city we stayed in, Alexandria, VA.

Great trip, great experience, great to be back!

Take THAT Early Spring!

Mamie and I aren't digging May temps in March so she gave Spring a little "what for" yesterday on our walk.

Moving On.

I kept the nephews the other evening after work.

Hudson here loves a good photo of himself so he was extra thrilled that my new phone has an option where you can see yourself on screen and take a picture at the same time.  When I got home, I had 20 something pictures that looked like the one above.

At some point I could not find "Little Brother" and when I asked Carson where he was Carson responded with, "He's going through your purse."

Sure enough, he was...

So then it became a fun game to wear Aunt Kendall's giant sunglasses.

Before it got dark we enjoyed some backyard time.  I saw the "Boys Only!" written in chalk on their clubhouse and thought it was precious.

As always when keeping a 3 and 5 year old, there were a few laughable moments like when my sister, as she was walking out the door, cautioned, "Oh yeah! If Hudson walks up to you holding his finger out he's not pointing...  He's handing you a booger."  No sooner had five minutes gone by did Hudson come running up to me with his hand out whining.  Being the compassionate aunt I responded by pushing him away and saying, "I DON'T WANT YOUR BOOGER!!!!" To which Carson calmly responded, "Him fell and hurt his hand."

The After Photos (I know I'm really behind on blogging)

Quiet blog = busy life, right?

I recently returned from a trip to D.C. for work and although I had an amazing time, I cannot seem to catch up.  I will post on that later this week because it will take a while to do. Since I have just a few minutes, I thought I'd write a Mamie post (SHOCKER!).  I call this "The After Photos".

 After the Park
She obviously had a horrible time.

 After the Lake
This was taken last night following 4.5 hours of exploring the shores and docks of Lake Ouachita.  We had a picnic and fished all afternoon.  She never once sat the whole time we were there.

After Beau Carried Her to Bed
Literally.  This was taken shortly after the above picture on the couch when we could not get her to take part in her nightly routine when she follows the first person who goes to bed.  I  considered paralysis until she used by backside to push off from as she stretched at 2:30 a.m. this morning.
