I attended the Saline County Historical Society's meeting the other night for work and while I was there the president made the announcement that they were in great need of an editor for their bi-annual publication called "The Saline". The book is a collection of records, stories and pictures from Saline County throughout its history and the editor puts the whole thing together. The previous editor of something like 15 years stepped down rather suddenly and they were having no luck replacing him. Since I've been looking for a volunteer opportunity in the community and love history I decided to enquire about the "position". I explained to the president that part of what I do at work involves designing publications and that I might be interested in helping. Before I could second guess myself (or agree to the position for that matter) he yelled, "Hey guys! Come meet our new editor!" I went from band nerd status to homecoming queen for those people in under a second.
Honestly I am very excited and looking forward to helping out but do find this whole thing laughable as I am the only one in the group not receiving a senior discount at Luby's. I think this next edition is slated to come out in the fall so I'm sure it will keep me busy. That is, unless they fire me.
